Nah - Linux.com now seems to be permanently sponsored by Microsoft. Let those who can afford the advertising advertise, though the proof of the pudding is in the eating, so if Netbeans is good they don't need all these advertising.
Me too, but thanks to Adblock I don't see them anymore...
Btw: Microsoft is one of the main advertiser of the german "eclipse magazin" ;-(

Yes. How else are people supposed to find out about NetBeans?
Speaking with my editorial hat on, the ads generate the funding that supports EclipseZone, and is an important part of how it exists. Unfortunately, there's no big corporate sponsor throwing people or resources or membership fees at the problem :-)
That being said, the choice of which advert to run may not controlled by the EclipseZone site, but rather the advertisment servers that make the call.
It may be the case that the NetBeans ads are specifically targetting users whose interest includes Eclipse, but also any Java IDE-type searches. (Searching for Java IDE in google gives a commercial advert for IntelliJ, for example.)
However, I'm always amused when I see a NetBeans advert on EZ. I don't see many IntelliJ adverts there.
One wonders how many referals from EZ the NetBeans domain gets? (Or, for that matter, vice versa...)

You just noticing this now? It's just part of the marketing attack that's been going on for the last year or so. No big deal.
